A New Home for the Yale Press Log

Welcome to the new home of the Yale Press Log on WordPress.com! With social media and online reading communities playing such a large role in how people read and enjoy books, we have adapted our new layout and format to fit our posts and updates on authors, books, publishing, museums, awards, contests, events, media, and reading. You’ll find that some aspects of the blog are the same like our archive of posts dating back to 2005 and connections to our Facebook and Twitter accounts; some things have been updated like our social university press blogroll and the Yale Press Log columns; and some are completely new: our sharing and navigation toolbars, our redesigned e-newsletter sign-up with more promotional offers and announcements, and more , more images, more book jackets, more book news for all, thanks in large part to our new WordPress theme: Delicious Magazine, designed by Woo Themes.

Coming soon are more contributions and features from our authors, more columns, and if you have not yet already caught the Ivan Brunetti-designed logo in the left sidebar, the answer is yes!: the Yale Press Podcast series will continue, with host Chris Gondek! Big thanks to our audience for your continued and renewed support of the series and all the comments, e-mails, and iTunes ratings!

In July, the theme is Global and International Studies, and after the first half of 2011, there is plenty to recount. New books on Afghanistan, Yemen, Egypt, and southern Africa, by Tim Bird & Alex Marshall, Victoria Clark, Tarek Osman, and Stephen Chan are at the center of our political discussions, and Leila Ahmed‘s new history, A Quiet Revolution: The Veil’s Resurgence, from the Middle East to America surrounds current controversies on Islamic women’s dress. We’ll have early looks at our Fall showcase of religion, religious art, and literature in translation titles, featuring upcoming highlights from our Margellos World Republic of Letters series. More on the legacies of American Modernism, with new Icons of America titles and updates on books about Georgia O’Keeffe, Alfred Stieglitz, and Gertrude Stein. And there’s a host of museum exhibitions traveling the globe, with the catalogues published in association with YUP waiting right here at home.

Enjoy having a look around the new site! And please share our new Yale Press on WordPress location with your friends and leave us feedback about what you like.
